Who we are

FairFX is an international payment services provider, offering services to customers in the UK since 2007. The Group has developed a cloud-based peer-to-peer payments platform that enables personal and business customers to make easy, low-cost multi-currency payments in a broad range of currencies and countries and across a range of FX products via one integrated system. The FairFX platform facilitates payments either direct to bank accounts or at over 30 million merchants and over 30 million ATMs in a broad range of countries globally via Mobile apps, the Internet, wire transfer and MasterCard/VISA debit cards.

Non-Executive Chairman: John Pearson

John Pearson has considerable experience in the digital, media and broadcast industries. He was co-founder and CEO of Virgin Radio for 13 years. He was also Chairman of Shazam Entertainment, a smartphone-based music identification service; co-founder of World Architecture News.com; and a director of Ginger Media Group. He is also co-founder of The Food.com.

Chief Executive Officer: Ian Strafford-Taylor

Mr. Strafford-Taylor is one of the Founders and has been a Director since 2007. Mr Strafford- Taylor has held a number of senior banking roles, including Business Unit Controller and Head of International Securities Lending at Morgan Stanley, where he worked from 1985 to 1992. Following this, Mr. Strafford-Taylor moved to UBS where he worked for 13 years as Managing Director and Global Head of Securities Borrowing & Lending, Fixed Income Repo and Prime Brokerage. Mr. Strafford-Taylor is a chartered accountant, qualifying with Arthur Andersen in 1985.

Non-Executive Director: Nicholas Simon Jeffery

Mr. Jeffery is currently Group Enterprise Director and Executive Board Director at Vodafone Group, prior to which he was Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless Worldwide. He began his career with Cable & Wireless plc (Mercury Communications) in 1991 and led the company’s UK and international markets business units. Following this, Mr. Jeffery joined Microfone Limited as a Director and Ciena. Inc as Head of Worldwide Sales and Europe Managing Director. Mr Jeffery is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and gained a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick.

Non-Executive Director: Ajay Chowdhury

Mr. Chowdhury is an experienced company director with particular expertise in digital media, digital retail, online and mobile industries. Mr. Chowdhury is currently Chief Executive Officer of Seatwave Limited, an online ticket sales marketing company. In addition, he is currently Non-Executive Director of the Department of Culture Media and Sport as well as the British Screen Advisory Council. Prior to this he was Executive Chairman of a multi-channel marketing Company, ComQi Group.

Chief Financial Officer: Clive Atkinson

Clive Atkinson is a Chartered Accountant who in his early career held senior roles in audit with KPMG and in corporate finance with PWC. He has held a number of senior finance and operational roles including Chief Operations Officer at Virgin Management, the management company for the Virgin Group. More recently, he was Chief Finance Officer in a team which founded a new healthcare business in the UAE and on his return to the UK became Finance & Operations Director of Alquity Investment Management.

Technical Director: Jules Bean

Jules Bean is a software engineer and Head of IT at FairFX. His experience is with a number of Internet companies. He has a PhD in Computer Science.
